Before and during shipment, some unnecessary expenses may be incurred due to the inaccurate information. How to avoid extra costs and reduce shipping fee is the question that has been consulted most frequently on the platform. Tips below aim to help you avoid additional costs effectively.
There are 6 additional fees most commonly seen:
1. Additional Handling Fee
Additional Handling Fee shall occur in following situations with FedEx& UPS: 1. Length: length of the longest side exceeds 48 inches；
2. Width: length of the 2nd longest side exceeds 30 inches；
3. Weight: actual weight for each package averagely exceeds 70 lbs.;
4. Packaging: Any item not fully loaded into the box, including but not limited to metal, wood, hard plastic, soft plastic (such as plastic bags) or expanded polystyrene foam (such as polystyrene foam); any cylindrical items such as buckets, or tires are not completely wrapped in the card box; can do harm to other packages; irregular shape; flexible packaging with a longest side over 18 inches or a second longest side over 13 inches or a height over 5 inches
5.Fee Details：
* Tips: Fill in the package size information truthfully. If the size is too large, additional fee will present in Show Detail. It is better that you choose no foam or plastic, soft film, etc. as packaging. Otherwise the carrier will charge Extra processing costs~
2. FedEx Oversize Package/UPS Large Package
Oversize/ Large package will be charged in following cases: 1. Length > 96 inches
2. Length + Girth（L+2W+2H）> 130 inches
FedEx Residential/Commercial：$90
UPS Commercial: $95
UPS Residential: $115
3. FedEx Unauthorized Package/UPS Over Maximum Limits
$675/package or $875/package + $95/package shall be charged as additional fee for FedEx unauthorized package or UPS over-maximum-limits package in following cases: 1. Length > 108 inches
2. Length + Girth（L+2W+2H）> 165 inches
3. single parcel > 150 lbs. *Tip: FedEx and UPS will charge a high fee for packages with limit exceeding maximum. So please be sure to fill in the package size as precise as possible. Both FedEx and UPS use laser to scan the package size, with the most prominent point on each side as the value, which is likely to be inconsistent with the size of the filled one. Therefore, when packing, try to use hard packaging to prevent the package from being crushed and damaged.
4. Residential Surcharge
FedEx Home Delivery：$3.8/Package, EzeeShip discounted rate: $1.9/Package
UPS Ground：$3.95/Package, EzeeShip discounted rate: $1.98/Package
FedEx Ground, FedEx Express：$4.4/Package
UPS Express：$4.55/Package, EzeeShip discounted rate: $2.28/Package *Tips: Address validation should be done when filling address information. If you failed to finish this process and it turns out to be a residential address and Ground Service is what you chose, then $4.4 will be charged as residential fee. (This fee only applies to FedEx services since UPS does not go with Home Delivery service)。For the record, the result of address validation comes from review of FedEx database. Generally, a hint will show after validation. And icon for Residential shall be checked if it turns out to be residential address. Otherwise, Commercial will show as hint. And if there is no hint, then it indicates that FedEx does not sure about the result and this one shall be dealt with as commercial delivery. And bill from the carrier should be final. So if it is feasible, please confirm with your recipient before shipping the package out.
5. Address Correction
Address Correction Fee applies when the sender/ recipient request to change address or the recipient’s address has not been filled in correctly.
FedEx: $16/package UPS: $16.4/package
* Tips：Validation of addresses should be done after finishing recipient’s address. And system will suggest you make a change about it when there is something wrong about the address.
6. Pick Up Fee
Pick Up Fee applies if the pickup service is in need.
FedEx on call pickup: same day $4/package, future day $3/package
UPS on call pickup: same day $6.9/package, future day $5.8/package
*Tips: Customers can order FedEx Pick Up on EzeeShip by operating as picture shows belowThis function has been developed for convenience of users. And the maximum amount of pickup fee is $10.5/ location/ week.For instance, 3 packages with FedEx Ground service are to be picked up, then $9 will be charges. While only $10.5 instead of $15 shall be charged, if 5 packages should be picked up.
