About Duties and Taxes for Goods Coming into China
There are 4 types of duties in general applied in China Customs, including duties on goods exported and imported, import adjustment tax and duties on luggage of inbound passengers and personal items shipped from overseas. Shipping Parcels to China:
FedEx and UPS provides international service and conduct initiative of declare at custom. If the content is for commercial-usage, FedEx and UPS shall contact the recipient to get necessary files for custom clearance.
Goods for Personal Use:
In general, EzeeShip recommends customers to choose Commercial or Sample instead of Gift or Personal Use as Purpose when filling Custom Form for goods coming into China with FedEx or UPS international services. As you may know, goods for non-commercial usage could be returned for the value exceeds 1,000 RMB.
Personal Effects:
Luggage Separation Declaration is needed when shipping personal luggage to China and following terms shall be required:
1. Exemption Value: Chinese citizens with valid Chinese passport are allowed to bring products for personal usage valuing no more than 5,000 RMB with no duties charged. For the products over the limits, duties and taxes are applied.
2. Personal Effects are applied on luggage of Chinese citizen who is going to enter in China in 6 months. They can use luggage check-in service with prerequisites that this person should come into China before the luggage arrives and recipient must be this same person. Also Inbound baggage Declaration should be obtained from Chinese Custom and completed. Then the declaration should be offered to FedEx for custom clearance.
