UPS, USPS & FedEx: Latest Peak Surcharges Updates

UPS Peak Surcharges as of August 7, 2020

Peak Surcharge – Applied to shipments from China Mainland to the U.S.

The Peak Surcharge that will apply to shipments originating from China Mainland to the U.S. will apply until further notice for the Service Levels and Peak Periods set forth below. The Peak Surcharge for shipments to the U.S. will be applied as a rate per pound based upon the billable weight of the shipment.




Peak Surcharge – Applied to shipments from Hong Kong SAR to the U.S.

The Peak Surcharge that will apply to shipments originating from Hong Kong SAR to the U.S. will apply until further notice for the Service Levels and Peak Periods set forth below. The Peak Surcharge for shipments to the U.S. will be applied as a rate per pound based upon the billable weight of the shipment.

Peak Period (inclusive of starting and ending dates) and Applicable Peak Surcharge ($/lb)

FedEx Surcharges and Fees

Beginning June 8, 2020

They announced a temporary surcharge on all FedEx Express® and TNT international parcel and freight shipments beginning April 6.

They implemented this surcharge due to the various COVID-19 containment restrictions issued in countries around the world. Those restrictions are disrupting the global supply chain. As a result, air cargo capacity is limited, and they are incurring incremental costs as they adjust their international networks to best deliver much-needed goods and services in this constrained environment.
